It's a small restaurant - only 15 tables, in a French-style cottage. Second, the service and ambiance was impeccable.

Also, every course made me think "this is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten" - and when that happens 11 times in a row, it's pretty mind-blowing. Not only was the food delicious, the flavor combinations were often very new to me, and that inventiveness was pretty exciting. I've only been to a few other pricey restaurants, but the French Laundry was a step apart.įirst off, every course was perfection. There was also a cheese course, a chocolate truffle course, various bread selections, and a coffee and beignet course - these weren't on the menu. The SO is a serious foodie, so I called the French Laundry about 550 times a couple of months ago, got reservations for Valentine's weekend (well, the Tuesday after Valentine's), and we planned a trip to Napa.
